Hunters Law Refurbishment Project Has Begun!

The Sorrel Group is very excited that the new refurbishment project for Hunters LLP is now underway!

Using our skilled workforce, we are delighted to be returning this iconic and historical building back to its former glory. Number nine New Square was badly damaged by a direct hit during a Zepplin raid in the first world war, as well as the Inn’s chapel being damaged. The roof of the building was only partially reconstructed following the wall and now we are transforming it to be cohesive with the rest of the Inn, as well as providing a brand-new interior space for our clients who have occupied the building since 1740.

With scaffolding now completed on both the front and back elevation, we will be removing the existing roof and loft space and then re-constructing using reclaimed materials and traditional methods.

Although the focus of this project is to bring the building back to life, there are also structural works required to ensure that this iconic premises can remain standing for many years to come, and substantial works, design processes and consultations have taken place prior to today to ensure we can deliver an exceptional, quality finish for our clients.

Another difficulty, especially in these times, is ensuring that there is a balance between historical heritage revival  and the modern necessity that’s required in any workspace. Under the interior refurbishment element, we will be installing technologically advanced recycled air systems that will be both hygienic for our client’s staff, as well as eco-friendly. Through careful deliberation and sensitivity to the building, these will be installed in areas where they can be hidden and easily accessed for future maintenance.

Working in buildings such as this, is both a challenge and a privilege. It’s Sorrel Group’s absolute passion to ensure that such iconic buildings are maintained for future generations, but also that we can provide practical solutions for clients that inhabit them. It’s a challenge we relish and love.
