1701 Resturant
Sorrel started off with a complete blanks space for this new restaurant for one of our clients. This is sometimes a blessing, sometimes a curse. In this instance it was a blessing. The vision our client had for this space was urban cool, moody with lighting and dark ceiling, smart, sophisticated and functional.
Working closely with interior designers, we took our knowledge of M&E design and helped to achieve a functional, working kitchen in the basement, as well as upgrade other services to ensure that the capacity our client required could be achieved. We installed Lossnay and extract systems to ensure that the environment could be comfortable for an increased amount of people in the restaurant, but also for the catering team working in the kitchens below. The introduction of a small, good lift was also a challenge in this project but working with building control and our own professional team of builders, help to make this far easier.
On this project we worked closely with out furniture suppliers, who created bespoke banquette style seating with integrated power. We negotiated and worked with companies to source high-end, quality and durable fixtures and fittings to ensure the overall aesthetic exceeded our client’s expectations.
It can sometimes be a challenge working with local authorities when changing a front façade, especially in a conservation area. Luckily with our knowledge of heritage and planning, we were able to make this process smooth sailing for our client. We are incredibly proud of the finish we achieved on this project, and although not the sort of project we do regularly, we were able to fine tune our own understanding and skills in particular areas to feel even more confident in tackling a similar project in the future.
