Mental Health Awareness Week
At Sorrel, we believe that Mental Health Awareness Week is an important moment for us to reflect on something that sits at the heart of our business: the wellbeing of our people.
In construction, maintenance and commercial refurbishment, the pace can be fast, the environments demanding, and the pressure high. We recognise that mental health is just as important as physical safety on every site and in every office. That’s why we are committed to creating a culture where our team feels supported, valued, and able to speak openly.
We don’t see mental health as a one-week conversation — it’s something we prioritise all year round. As a business, we go the extra mile to ensure our employees know they are not alone. We have trained Mental Health First Aiders across the company who are approachable, understanding, and equipped to provide initial support and guidance. Whether someone is dealing with stress, anxiety, or personal challenges, there is always someone ready to listen.
Regular check-ins are also a key part of how we work. Managers take the time to have meaningful conversations, not just about projects and deadlines, but about how people are really doing. We actively encourage an open environment where asking for help is seen as a strength, not a weakness.
Our industry is built on teamwork, and that extends beyond the job itself. Looking out for one another, recognising when someone might be struggling, and offering support where needed is part of who we are.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, Sorrel reaffirms our commitment to continuing these efforts. By investing in our people and prioritising wellbeing, we’re not only building better projects — we’re building a stronger, more supportive workplace for everyone.
