National Apprenticeship Week 2021
The theme for National Apprenticeship Week in 2021 is ‘Build the Future’ and at Sorrel we have always prided ourselves on our investment in people. It is part of our ethos, as a family run business, that when you take the time to invest in new talent, that person will want to stay with you and be a long running asset in the future.
Tracy English, head of HR and Business development at Sorrel, said “finding a bright young mind with an eagerness to learn and gain real on-site experience is exceptionally important for our business. We believe full-heartedly, that when you invest in people, they invest in your business. We like to take the time to provide support, mentorship, and funding for any of our apprentices that want to specialise or evolve their skills”.
Considering the theme of this year’s Apprenticeship Week, Sorrel has continued to work with local colleges in Essex to fund and support a new generation of skilled workman. One of our apprentices, Christopher Gower, explained about his journey working with Sorrel - “I have worked for Sorrel for over a year now, and I’ve been really grateful for all the support that they have provided. I’ve been placed in a variety of site scenarios to get as much hands-on experience as I can. It’s been great that I’ve been given responsibility and always had someone senior to talk to if I had a question – I honestly feel like I could stay with Sorrel for my future career”.
