New Square Chambers Refurbishment
At Sorrel we have a true passion for working within heritage and listed buildings, showing them great care and attention to highlight their uniqueness and history. At New Square Chambers we worked closely with our client on all aspects of their ground and basement refurbishment. We were tasked with creating a fresh, contemporary and stylish reception area and meeting rooms, as well as Clerks offices and client toilets. This building had two incredible historic fireplaces that needed to be cleaned and incorporated into the overall design, so that they worked with, rather than against the modern spaces our client required. With the use of muted heritage colours and bold artwork and furniture, we have created a harmonious balance within the spaces. The furniture was sourced in collaboration with our client and their budgets. There is always a challenge in providing heating for such buildings, but by installing eco electric radiators that can be programmed and installed in key locations, we were able to create a comfortable working environment. Clever use of lighting and accessories also gave a distinctive feel to our client’s unique environment, so that their brand could shine through to their clients.
Storage and working space were also important to our client, and we designed bespoke Kronospan shelving, cupboards and pigeonholes to fit into their spaces exactly and seamlessly meld with the original environments and textures. It was an absolute pleasure working with our client on this project, listening to their ideas and helping evolve plans so they ended up with their dream offices, resulted in an excellent finish.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sorrel Group on refurbishment of our Grade I listed building, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their team. Adam, the project manager, was proactive, communicative, and ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish, despite the challenges that come with working on such a historic site. Gordon, the site manager, was incredibly hands-on and meticulous, making sure every detail was handled with care and precision. Their expertise and dedication to preserving the integrity of the building while delivering exceptional results were truly impressive. I highly recommend Sorrel Group for any project, especially when working on something as unique and important as a Grade I listed building!"
